On June 7, 2022 Expert Group Meeting for Healthy and Safety Food was held at the premises of Kazakh National Agrarian Research University.The hybrid event gathered representatives of 10 states was jointly organized by the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) and the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University (KazNARU).
An opening ceremony of the meeting witnessed keynote speech by the rector of KazNARU Dr. T.Espolov, General Director of Atyab International Services of the Sultanate of Oman Mr.Mohib Ahmed Khan, IOFS Director of the Department for Programs and Projects Dr. Ismail Abdel Hamid.
The first plenary session was devoted to the discussion of challenges and solutions of the food safety related issues. Presentation provided by the representative of the Secretariat of the National Biosafety Committee Agricultural Genetic Engineering Research Institute (AGERI) of Egypt Dr.Hisham El-Shishtawy named “The food safety new challenges and solutions” included a detailed overview of the fundamental role of food safety that has crucial impact on human health and economies globally. Furthermore, KazNARU Professor S.Serikbayeva during her speech proposed to establish an international research center for food security and halal food products at the hosting university.


Overview on the food safety and quality infrastructure in Tunisia was widely discussed by Deputy Director of Food Safety Management Systems, Organic Product and Halal certification (INNORPI) of Tunisia Ms. Ines Barhoumi, whereas Director of plant protection management and safety phytosanitary, Mr. Imad Alawad shared Jordan experience in food safety system, tackling with its issues and suggested feasible solutions.
Furthermore, implementation of the Halal Scheme in Certification Bodies of Accreditation, issues of national food control systems and harmonization of food safety standards for honey and apricots, impact of training programs for expanding work in improving nutrition and resilience were comprehensively discussed by speakers from Tajikistan, Turkey, Morocco, Spain and Kazakhstan.
The IOFS and KazNARU fifth expert meeting dedicated to the World Food Safety Day has become an interactive platform for exchange experience and to bring light to the latest emerging risks and threats for global food safety and nutrition quality and emphasized ensuring joint actions aimed at enhancing resilience of vulnerable populations to food security.
