Hossein Farazmand, speaking at the Iran Efficiency Exhibition, emphasized the importance of leveraging communication and information technology to enhance efficiency and productivity in the agricultural sector. He highlighted ongoing initiatives such as smart irrigation and the implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT) in Iran. Farazmand also announced the launch of Iran's first 'metaverse' platform for the agricultural sector, created in collaboration with a knowledge-based company, to showcase agricultural and horticultural products. He expressed hope that private agricultural companies would also participate in this virtual space. Earlier, Iran's Minister of Agriculture, Mohammad Ali Nikbakht, outlined the ministry's focus on export-oriented production for the current year, citing a significant increase in agricultural exports in the previous year. Nikbakht emphasized the importance of providing necessary facilities to agricultural exporters to boost export activities. He highlighted investment opportunities in aquaculture and fisheries sectors, noting their potential to contribute to production goals while improving soil and water productivity. Additionally, Ruhollah Latifi, spokesperson of Iran's House of Industry, Mining and Trade, reported a 22.5 percent increase in Iran's exports of agricultural and foodstuff products in the previous year, reaching approximately $6.3 billion. Iraq emerged as the top destination for Iranian agro-food products, followed by the UAE and Russia, demonstrating the significant role of these exports in Iran's non-oil economy.
