SESRIC and IOFS Successfully Convene Webinar on Livestock Sector Risks and Prevention Measures

Astana, Kazakhstan - 12 June 2024 - The Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) and the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) concluded a successful webinar on "Addressing Risks and Prevention Measures of Livestock Sector".

The event explored the critical role of livestock in achieving sustainable development goals within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OIC ) region. Experts addressed key challenges and opportunities faced by OIC Member States in the livestock sector, emphasizing the importance of responsible practices. Discussions also focused on minimizing environmental impacts and promoting the adoption of best policies for a more sustainable future. The webinar fostered a platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration among OIC Member States and participants gained valuable insights from presentations and interactive sessions.

The webinar was opened by the IOFS Director of Programs and Projects Department, Prof. Zulfiqar Ali and SESRIC Director of Training and Technical Cooperation Department, Dr. Nenden Octavarulia Shanty and followed by the presentations and active discussions by the participants in topics of Livestock Systems in the Modern World Agriculture and Food Security; Livestock Sector Status in the OIC; Animal Breeding and Genetics as Risks Mitigation Measures; Livestock and its Environmental Impact; and Green Farming Policy and Regulations for the Livestock Sector.
