Official Opening of the National Training on Rice Mechanization in Guinea-Bissau

Bissau, 26 August 2025 - The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Republic of Guinea-Bissau, officially launched the National Training on Enhancing Rice Productivity through Mechanization on 26 August 2025 in Bissau.

The opening ceremony was held in the presence of H.E. Dr. Queta Baldé, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Dr. Abdelaziz Hajjaji, representative of IOFS; and technical experts from several Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OIC ) Member States.

Delivering remarks on behalf of IOFS, Dr. Abdelaziz emphasized that this training reflects the high-level commitment made during the official visit of H.E. President Umaro Sissoco Embaló and the Minister of Agriculture to the IOFS Headquarters in Astana. The visit highlighted the shared vision to modernize Guinea-Bissau’s rice sector through technology transfer, capacity building, and South–South cooperation.

Over the course of three days, participants will engage in expert-led sessions, field demonstrations, and exchanges on innovative solutions, including precision agriculture and climate-smart technologies tailored to rice production and post-harvest practices.

This initiative aligns with IOFS’s broader mission to strengthen food systems and enhance agricultural resilience across OIC Member States.
