Astana, 28 November 2025 — Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director-General of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS), received H.E. Ambassador Bakhtiyor Ibragimov, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the IOFS Headquarters.
The meeting underscored the steady growth of cooperation between the IOFS and Uzbekistan. Ambassador Aryn highlighted ongoing interactions with the National Center for Knowledge and Innovation in Agriculture under the Ministry of Agriculture of Uzbekistan, as well as the Southern Agricultural Research Institute in Karshi. He also commended the active participation of leading Uzbek experts across IOFS programmes, including Sustainable Veterinary Health Systems, Food Waste Management, and Halal Product Standardization.
The Director-General further noted Uzbekistan’s constructive engagement in recent IOFS meetings held in Doha, particularly those dedicated to the Draft OIC Strategic Plan for Food Security, Food Security Reserves, and OIC Strategic Commodities.

Ambassador Aryn stressed that the next important step in strengthening cooperation is the swift formalization of relations through Uzbekistan’s accession to the IOFS. He also emphasized the promising opportunities for expanding collaboration, especially in developing logistics hubs, enhancing water resources management, and fostering partnerships among agricultural research institutions. Both sides reaffirmed their readiness to advance joint efforts within the IOFS-mandated Afghanistan Food Security Programme.
H.E. Ambassador Ibragimov welcomed these directions and reiterated Uzbekistan’s firm commitment to elevating its partnership with the IOFS. He informed that the domestic procedures related to Uzbekistan’s accession are nearing completion and expressed his support for strengthening joint efforts aimed at promoting the country’s agricultural potential for the benefit of the region and the broader OIC community.
