In Vienna on 25 June 2024, Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) President H.E. Dr. Muhammad Al Jasser and UN World Food Program Executive Director Ms. Cindy Hensley MacCain convened to discuss enhancing their collaboration in combating global food insecurity, a critical challenge. Since January 2020, their partnership has notably progressed, currently focusing on joint initiatives such as the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund (AHTF). The meeting also addressed innovative resource mobilization and financing strategies crucial for future joint endeavors. Dr. Al Jasser highlighted their joint efforts in developing country action plans under the School Meals Coalition and advancing the "Human Capital Development" initiative (1,000+ days Initiative), aiming to optimize nutritional and educational support in IsDB member countries and beyond where WFP operates.
