IOFS Updates its MoU with SESRIC with Result-Oriented Joint Action Plan

On 24 May 2023, His Excellency Prof. Yerlan Alimzhanuly Baidaulet, the Director General of the Islamic Organization of Food Security (IOFS), visited the headquarters Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC) in Ankara, Republic of Türkiye, to meet the Director General, Her Excellency Ms. Zehra Zümrüt Selçuk, to sign an update of the existing memorandum of understanding between the two sister-Institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OIC ).

The updated MoU included a Joint Action Plan (JAP) that is based on three different sources of activities to be executed in the current year, such as i) mandates from OIC Ministerial Meetings; ii) agreed initiatives within the framework of Annual Coordination Meeting of OIC Institutions (ACMOI); and iii) the IOFS 2031 Strategic Vision with particular emphasis on water resources management in agriculture and livestock.

The visit also provided an opportunity to congratulate the host on her well-deserved appointment as the new SESRIC Director General and to exchange views on how best to implement the updated MoU and JAP as a mean to strengthen the ongoing excellent bilateral cooperation towards benefiting Member States and their people with joint initiatives in the fields of food security and agricultural development.

Separately, the IOFS delegation attended the closing ceremony of the 39th Follow-up Committee of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), which adopted the final Report and Resolutions that, inter alia, reiterated the support of Member States and relevant OIC Institutions for the implementation of the IOFS 2031 Strategic Vision.
