IOFS Strengthens Strategic Partnerships during Working Visit to Qatar

Doha, State of Qatar – 7 July 2025 – The Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, conducted a working visit to the State of Qatar from 6 to 7 July 2025, aimed at deepening institutional partnerships and expanding cooperation in the areas of food security, humanitarian response, and sustainable development within the OIC region.

On 6 July, H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn was received by H.E. Mr. Nawaf Abdullah Al-Hammadi, Chief Global Operations Officer of Qatar Charity, for a bilateral meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in the field of food security across OIC Member States. The two sides discussed concrete areas of partnership, including support for national food systems, enhanced coordination on country-level programming, and the potential to jointly deliver impactful projects that address both immediate needs and systemic challenges. Emphasis was placed on leveraging each institution’s comparative strengths, IOFS’s mandate as a specialized OIC institutions and Qatar Charity’s extensive operational footprint and expertise in humanitarian programming. As an outcome of the meeting, the two parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding, establishing a formal framework for strategic cooperation and joint implementation of food security initiatives in priority regions.

Also on 6 July, H.E. Ambassador Aryn met with Mr. Salim Abbasi, Chief Executive Officer of Qatar Solar Energy (QSE). The meeting reflected a shared interest in linking renewable energy with food systems transformation and climate adaptation.

On 7 July, the IOFS delegation held a bilateral meeting with the Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS), where H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn was received by H.E. Mr. Faisal bin Mohammed Al-Emadi, Secretary General of QRCS. The meeting focused on advancing cooperation in humanitarian response and food security across OIC Member States. Both sides discussed the importance of aligning their efforts in crisis-affected areas through joint programming, field-level coordination, and the mobilization of technical expertise. The exchange also emphasized the shared commitment of IOFS and QRCS to delivering principled, needs-based assistance to vulnerable populations, and laid the groundwork for future engagement on coordinated initiatives in priority regions.

On 7 July, a working-level meeting was held with the Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD). The meeting was led on the IOFS side by Dr. Ismail Abdelhamid, Director of the Projects Department, and from the QFFD side by Mr. Yousef Almulla, Acting Manager of the Humanitarian Aid Department. Discussions focused on exploring areas of cooperation and alignment of priorities, with both parties expressing interest in continued dialogue on potential joint development efforts.

As part of the visit, H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn paid a courtesy visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the State of Qatar, where he was received by H.E. Mr. Arman Issagaliyev, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the State of Qatar. The meeting served to reaffirm the importance of strengthening coordination between IOFS and its host country, Kazakhstan, and to exchange views on enhancing Kazakhstan–Qatar cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including within the broader OIC framework.
