IOFS Strengthens Partnerships with Qatar Charity and Qatar Fund for Development to Advance Food Security and Strategic Initiatives

Doha, State of Qatar - 2–3 September 2025 - During a working visit to the State of Qatar, Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, Assistant Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), held a series of high-level bilateral meetings with senior representatives of Qatar Charity and Qatar Fund for Development (QFFD). The discussions centered on strengthening partnerships to enhance food security, humanitarian response, and sustainable agricultural development across the Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OIC ) Member States.

On 2 September, Ambassador Noziri met with Mr. Nawaf Al-Hammadi, Chief Global Operations Officer, and Mr. Adnan Saif, Acting Director of the External Affairs Department, at Qatar Charity headquarters. The meeting focused on expanding cooperation to deliver impactful food security and humanitarian projects across the OIC region. Ambassador Noziri highlighted flagship IOFS initiatives, including the Afghanistan Food Security Programme and the IOFS Africa Initiative. Both parties acknowledged the strong alignment of priorities and emphasized the importance of transferring expertise, ensuring measurable impact, and strengthening monitoring, evaluation, and sustainability mechanisms. The possibility of organizing a Qatar Charity familiarization visit to observe IOFS project management practices was also discussed.

On 3 September, Ambassador Noziri held talks with the leadership of QFFD on the implementation of the IOFS Flagship Project for the establishment of the OIC International Gene Bank. This initiative, designed to preserve agrobiodiversity and strengthen resilience to climate change and food crises, is expected to be implemented in partnership between IOFS, the Republic of Kazakhstan, and QFFD. The meeting further explored avenues for broader cooperation in sustainable agriculture, humanitarian and development programmes, and other long-term initiatives aligned with QFFD’s strategic priorities. Both sides agreed to maintain technical consultations and jointly formulate project concepts reflecting their shared vision.

The meetings underlined the shared commitment of IOFS, Qatar Charity, and QFFD to advancing food security, resilience, and sustainable development in OIC Member States, laying the foundation for deeper collaboration through joint platforms, strategic dialogue, and coordinated action.
