Istanbul, Türkiye | 2–3 October 2025 – Upon instructions of His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn, the Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, Chief Multilateral Affairs Officer, actively participated in the 5th Consultative Forum of the Regional Cooperation Organizations (RCOs) in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Region, hosted by the Islamic Development Bank Group - isdb.org and the Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT).
Throughout the two-day discussions, Mr. Mutualo made valuable contributions enriching the debates on critical themes such as addressing tariff and non-tariff barriers, enhancing connectivity, promoting investment flows, and advancing regional cooperation for food security and sustainable development in the agricultural sector and agrifood systems transformation.
The Forum provided a unique platform for dialogue among OIC institutions, Regional Cooperation Organizations, and international partners. It focused on aligning strategies to promote regional trade, investment, and connectivity while strengthening intra-OIC collaboration.
On the margins of the Forum, IOFS engaged in a series of productive bilateral meetings with participating institutions, including the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), World Trade Organization (WTO), United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC), Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT), and the OIC General Secretariat, among others. These meetings explored avenues for joint initiatives, program alignment, and concrete actions to enhance food security, trade facilitation, and agricultural development in OIC Member States.
The IOFS’s presence and contributions to the 5th ROCs Consultative Forum reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening partnerships, fostering multilateral cooperation, and advancing sustainable food systems across the OIC region.
