IOFS Participates in the 6th Steering Committee Meeting for the OIC STI Agenda 2026

Islamabad, Islamic Republic of Pakistan – 22–23 April 2025 - The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) actively participated in the 6th Meeting of the OIC Steering Committee for Implementation of the OIC STI Agenda 2026, convened by the COMSTECH in Islamabad.

The IOFS delegation, led by Amb. Khusrav Noziri, Assistant Director General, and Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, Chief Multilateral Relations Officer, engaged in comprehensive discussions alongside representatives of OIC institutions and key stakeholders. The meeting provided an important platform to review the progress made in advancing the OIC STI Agenda and to deliberate on strategic priorities for the coming period.During the proceedings, IOFS presented its contributions to the STI Agenda’s thematic areas, particularly in food security, sustainable agriculture, climate resilience, and innovation for development. Ambassador Noziri emphasized the need for stronger inter-institutional coordination, increased resource mobilization, and the establishment of mechanisms that bridge scientific research with practical policymaking.

In this context, IOFS proposed several initiatives, including the creation of an Integrated Data and Information Sharing System under COMSTECH’s coordination to facilitate evidence-based decision-making and strengthen collaboration among Member States. IOFS also highlighted the importance of aligning national development priorities with the objectives of the STI Agenda by setting up Joint Technical Working Groups with Member States. Furthermore, IOFS advocated for fostering Science-Policy Dialogue Platforms to ensure regular exchanges between scientists, policymakers, and development practitioners, enhancing the relevance and impact of scientific outputs across the OIC region.

The meeting concluded with a strong reaffirmation of collective commitment to the advancement of science, technology, and innovation in the Islamic world. It was agreed that the next meeting of the Steering Committee is tentatively scheduled to take place at the headquarters of SESRIC in Ankara, Republic of Türkiye, in early 2026.
