IOFS PROMOTES STRATEGIC TRANSFORMATION OF SHEEP FARMING DEVELOPMENT
05 May 2023

The Islamic Organization for Food Security commemorated the beginning of May by signing an MoU with the Republican Center for Breeding in Livestock “ASYL TULIK” and COWMAS Kazakhstan. The Memorandum initiated a tripartite collaboration to promote animal husbandry, namely, to strengthen pedigree transformation of farm animals (sheep) based on modern breeding methods, information technologies in the specific sphere. Both organizations were able to fully synchronize their strategic visions.

Through this partnership, the IOFS aims to promote sustainable Livestock ecosystems primarily through the development of sheep farming in the OIC region. IOFS is facilitating a platform for additional livestock production, through an emphasis of strategically transforming the system for the efficient and sustainable use of sheep byproducts. The development of the livestock ecosystems strongly contributes to preserving religious traditions and aligns with sustainable food security practices of our countries, as referred in the Quran « Keep sheep/goats, for there is certainly barakah (blessings) in them. » (Sunan Ibn Majah, Hadith: 2304)
