On 27 April 2023 the Islamic Organization for Food Security participated in the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Webinar on the Management of the Food Security Crisis & Preparation for the Future, the pre-event dedicated to the topic of food security in view of the 2023 IsDB Group Annual Meeting. The key speakers of the event included, Mr Halil Agah, Executive Director of FCIC, Aamir Mir, PPFM Manager, IsDB, Dr. Azhar Alhaboby, Executive Manager, Hail Agriculture Consultancies- UAE, Ougfaly Badji, Lead Global Food Security Specialist, Prof. Dr. Erdal Akdeve, University of Social Science (Ankara), Director of Social Innovation Institute, and Mr Moncef Ziani, FCIC Vice-President.
The presentations were followed by the session of Discussions and Q&A, where experts from the IsDB provided information on agricultural development and their results on the evaluation of the IsDB Food Security Program (Jeddah Declaration).
Prof. Zulfiqar Ali, Director of Programs and Projects Department of the Islamic Organization for Food Security made an intervention as panelist and delivered a presentation on the role of IOFS in food security in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OIC ) geography, and the performance of the organization for 2022. The Director emphasized the transformation of the implementation of the IOFS programs from activities to projects, the emphasis on strategic partnerships within OIC. The key projects highlighted included Sheep Farming Development, the creation of a Meat Hub in West Africa, Bakery Supply Chain, Regional Wheat Development in Mauritania, the Integrated Water Plan for Niger and Sahel, Vertical Farming Industry, the establishment of Food Banks for all OIC Member States, and the IOFS Center of Excellence for Organic Farming.
