Islamabad, Pakistan – 24-25 February 2025 - The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) proudly participated in the First Meeting of Networking of Water Centers of Excellence in the Orgaization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States, held at the COMSTECH Secretariat in Islamabad, Pakistan. This high-level gathering, jointly organized by OIC-COMSTECH, the OIC General Secretariat, and the Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management (INWRDAM), brought together key stakeholders to advance collaborative research and innovative solutions to address water challenges across OIC countries.
Representing IOFS, Dr. Abdelaziz Hajjaji delivered an insightful presentation on Securing Sustainable Water through the Water-Energy-Food Nexus in OIC Member States, highlighting the critical need for integrated resource management. He emphasized the role of harmonized policies and technological innovations in enhancing water security, food production, and energy efficiency across the region. His address underscored key priorities, including data-driven decision-making, policy coherence, science-policy dialogue, stakeholder engagement, financing mechanisms, scaling up innovations, and capacity building to ensure sustainable and resilient water management in OIC Member States.
IOFS reaffirms its commitment to supporting OIC Member States in tackling water-related challenges and enhancing cooperation through knowledge-sharing platforms and strategic partnerships. The organization looks forward to strengthening joint initiatives that contribute to achieving sustainable water management and food security in alignment with the OIC Water Vision.
