IOFS Participates in Parliamentary Hearing on Digital Transformation in Kazakhstan

Astana, Kazakhstan – The Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) participated in the Parliamentary Hearing on Digital Transformation in the Agro-Industrial and Water Sectors, organized by the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The IOFS delegation was represented by H.E. Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, Assistant Director General, and Dr. Abdelaziz Hajjaji, Programme Manager.
During the session, IOFS highlighted the importance of water security as a foundation for food security, emphasizing the need to modernize irrigation systems through digital technologies, data-driven management, and institutional strengthening. IOFS also presented its ongoing cooperation with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan, including technical training, regional capacity-building, and knowledge exchange initiatives.
The Organisation shared experiences from OIC Member States on irrigation modernization and digital water management, and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Kazakhstan in advancing digital water governance and sustainable irrigation systems.
IOFS welcomed Kazakhstan’s initiative to declare 2026 as the Year of Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, as well as the proposal to establish a UN International Water Organisation, highlighting their importance for strengthening global water cooperation.
