12 December 2025

Brussels, Belgium - 12 December 2025 – The Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) participated in the 2025 Annual General Assembly of the Global Donor Platform for Rural Development, contributing to discussions on mobilizing finance for sustainable agrifood systems.

Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, IOFS Assistant Director General, represented the organization virtually at the event held at the European Commission in Brussels. The Assembly focused on "Investing in the Future of Agrifood Systems: New Directions for Development Finance".

During the session on catalyzing finance and impact for food systems, IOFS shared perspectives from its work across member states, addressing the regional challenge of a $65 billion food deficit alongside untapped production capacity. The organization highlighted the importance of building trust, strengthening governance frameworks, and facilitating cross-border cooperation to enable both public and private investment.

IOFS emphasized its approach of working with enabling entities and industry collectives to accelerate impact and create connections across value chains. The organization also noted its operational access in challenging contexts, where it helps create conditions for sustainable investment to reach farmers and communities.

The Assembly brought together global donors, implementers, and policymakers to explore practical approaches for transforming agrifood systems and unlocking catalytic finance at scale.
