Antalya, Türkiye – 12 April 2025 — The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) participated in the prestigious Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025 , with Director General H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn attending the official opening ceremony alongside heads of state, foreign ministers, and global dignitaries.
Organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye and held under the auspices of President H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, this fourth edition of the Forum is held under the theme “Reclaiming Diplomacy in a Fragmented World.” The Forum has brought together participants from 148 countries, including 19 heads of state and government, 52 foreign ministers, and numerous high-ranking officials and representatives of international organizations.
The opening day of the Forum featured in-depth panels addressing a wide range of pressing topics, including the risks of nuclear escalation, global connectivity and digital development, shifting dynamics in the Asia-Pacific region, the path toward peace in the Middle East, and reflections on the future of Gaza and Palestine.
Additional sessions examined emerging threats such as terrorism, climate-driven humanitarian crises, the role of mediation in conflict resolution, and the evolving direction of multilateral organizations such as the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
On the sidelines of the Forum, Ambassador Berik Aryn held a number of bilateral meetings with high-level representatives from IOFS Member States and strategic partners. These included productive discussions with H.E. Abdullah Ali Al-Yahya, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, H.E. Sugiono, Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, and H.E. Ahmed Attaf, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria. The meetings focused on strengthening multilateral cooperation on food security, expanding IOFS-led initiatives in agricultural sustainability, and exploring opportunities for technical partnerships and regional collaboration in addressing food systems challenges.
Additionally, Ambassador Aryn had a brief yet cordial encounter with H.E. Ahmed al-Sharaa, Syria’s President, which underscored IOFS’s commitment to inclusive dialogue and engagement across the OIC region.
The active participation of IOFS in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum reaffirmed its growing role in international food diplomacy and highlighted the importance of multilateral collaboration in addressing urgent food security challenges in the Islamic world.
