Istanbul, Turkey – The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) participated in the opening of the World Halal Summit 2024, celebrating a decade of success under the theme, "A Decade of Halal Success: Uniting Vision, Shaping the Future." The Summit emphasized global collaboration to strengthen the Halal economy and address pressing food security challenges in Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OIC )  Member States.

Representing the IOFS, H.E. Amb. Khusrav Noziri, Assistant Director General, delivered an impactful address, highlighting the potential of Halal principles to build sustainable food systems. He stressed the alarming levels of food insecurity in OIC countries, with more than 15% of the population undernourished, and outlined IOFS’s initiatives to reduce food losses and waste through capacity-building programs and advanced technologies.

“Halal principles are not merely about compliance; they embody responsibility, sustainability, and justice,” Amb. Noziri stated. He called for collective efforts to integrate Halal values into global food security strategies, fostering equity and resilience for future generations.

The Summit also featured high-level contributions from esteemed speakers, including representatives from The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC), Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), the Saudi Halal Center, and Islamic Center for Development of Trade (ICDT), who shared innovative approaches to harmonizing Halal standards, advancing intra-OIC trade, and supporting small- and medium-sized enterprises.
