IOFS Observes Kurultai Election in Kazakhstan

Astana, Kazakhstan — 23 August — The Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) participated in the international observation of the election to the Kurultai in the Republic of Kazakhstan with a seven-member multinational observation mission led by H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, the Director General of the IOFS.

The IOFS delegation monitored voting procedures at more than 20 polling stations across all districts of Astana and in the Karaganda Region. The mission observed voting procedures, accessibility measures, the work of election commissions, and the overall organization of the electoral process. The delegation also observed the vote-counting procedures following the close of polling stations.

As an international observer mission, the IOFS carried out its work in accordance with the principles of independence, political neutrality, impartiality, and objectivity, with all conclusions based solely on direct observation.

Throughout the observation, the mission noted that polling stations operated in a calm, transparent, and well-organized manner. The election commissions demonstrated professionalism, polling stations were well-equipped, and voters were provided with clear information regarding voting procedures.

Particular attention was paid to the accessibility of polling stations. The IOFS observers noted that conditions had been created to facilitate the participation of persons with disabilities, including the availability of Braille materials, magnifying glasses, additional lighting, and other measures designed to ensure equal access to the electoral process.
