IOFS Highlights Strategic Priorities to Strengthen the Agri-Food System at EEC Round Table

11 September 2025, Moscow (hybrid format) - The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) participated in the Round Table on “The Role and Place of the Eurasian Economic Union in the Global Agri-Food System”, organized by the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) on 11 September 2025 in Moscow in a hybrid format. Discussions focused on global trends in agricultural production, international cooperation in food security management, export support mechanisms, and sustainable innovation. The event gathered senior representatives of international organizations, including FAO, SCO, IOFS, IGC, and CIS, as well as government officials, experts, and private sector representatives.

Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, Assistant Director General of IOFS, delivered a keynote statement highlighting the experiences of IOFS Member States in managing food security and showcasing reforms, strategies, and mechanisms implemented to address key challenges. He presented the forthcoming OIC Strategic Plan for Food Security 2026–2035, developed with SESRIC and IsDB, which prioritizes productivity, agri-food industry resilience, crisis preparedness, resource mobilization, and trade.

Ambassador Noziri also highlighted IOFS partnerships with UNDP on cassava value chains, with UN Women on empowering women farmers in Nigeria and Sierra Leone, and with the Global Green Growth Institute on livestock projects in Togo and Guinea. He stressed that food security requires collective action, noting IOFS’s readiness to deepen cooperation with EAEU, FAO, SCO, ASEAN, and other partners.

The Round Table provided a valuable opportunity for dialogue and exchange on the role of the EAEU and international organizations in promoting sustainable agri-food systems, strengthening trade flows, and ensuring global food security.
