Istanbul, Turkiye - 1 November 2025 – Upon instructions of His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn, the Director General of the Islamic Organisation of Food Security (IOFS), Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, Chief Multilateral Relations Officer represented the Organization at the Senior Official Meeting Preparatory to the 41st Ministerial Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), being held in Istanbul, Republic of Türkiye.

On Agenda item 10: “Increasing Productivity of Agriculture Sector and Sustaining Food Security”, Mr. Mutualo made his intervention to underline the centrality of food security to the OIC development agenda and reaffirmed IOFS’s strong partnership with COMCEC in advancing resilient and integrated food systems across Member States. He highlighted key IOFS efforts since the last COMCEC Session regarding the implementation of IOFS Strategic Vision 2031, the Africa Food Security Initiative (AFSI) and the Afghanistan Food Security Programme (AFSP) and the humanitarian food assistance in Gaza.
Mr. Mutualo also referred to the finalization of the Strategic Plan for Ensuring Food Security in OIC Countries (SPEFS-OIC), developed with the OIC General Secretariat, SESRIC, and IsDB, and to be considered at the upcoming OIC Ministerial Conference on Food Security.
He further announced preparations for the 2nd OIC Food Security Day on 11 December 2025, under the theme “Strengthening OIC Food Systems through the Leadership of Rural Women & Youth”, to be held on the margins of the 9th Annual Coordination Meeting of OIC Institutions (ACMOI) at the OIC Headquarters in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
The outcomes of the Senior Officials Meeting will be submitted for adoption at the 41st COMCEC Ministerial Session on 3 November 2025, to be attended by Ambassador Berik Aryn and inaugurated by H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye.
