IOFS Expert Meeting on the IOFS Fund and the Association of Agricultural Academies
12 May 2025

The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) successfully held a virtual expert meeting, bringing together representatives from several Member States, including the UAE, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea-Bissau, Niger, and Togo. The meeting provided a platform for participants to discuss key initiatives aimed at strengthening agricultural cooperation and food security across the Islamic world.

During the meeting, the IOFS Secretariat introduced two important initiatives designed to promote sustainable agriculture and enhance scientific collaboration among Member States.

The first initiative, the IOFS Fund, is a proposed platform to mobilize resources and investments in agriculture and food security projects. Participants explored ways this Fund could support national food security strategies and facilitate cooperation among countries.

The second initiative, the Association of Agricultural Academies (AAA), was presented as a collaborative network to strengthen the connection between agricultural research and policymaking. This initiative aims to promote knowledge exchange, build scientific capacity, and support evidence-based decision-making across the region.

Representatives from Member States actively engaged in discussions, offering valuable feedback on both initiatives and expressing interest in further consultations to refine their implementation.

The IOFS Secretariat emphasized its commitment to continuing dialogue with Member States and providing necessary support to advance these initiatives. Member States are encouraged to provide further input and explore opportunities for collaboration.
