Astana, Kazakhstan – 10 June 2025 - The Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, Ambassador Berik Aryn, paid an official visit to Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical Research University (KazATRU), where he was warmly received by the Rector, Professor Kanat Tireuov.
During the meeting, the Rector presented an overview of the University's academic programs, research initiatives, and key areas of expertise in agriculture, technology, and food security. He emphasized KazATRU's strong position in global rankings, including its 1200th place in the QS World University Rankings and 351st in the QS Asia University Rankings, while highlighting the institution's extensive network of partnerships.The Rector detailed how KazATRU maintains active collaborations with numerous leading international universities through joint degree programs, faculty exchange initiatives, and shared research projects in agricultural innovation. These global academic partnerships are complemented by strategic alliances with national agricultural enterprises, including cooperative education programs that place students in commercial farms and agribusinesses, joint applied research with food production companies, and industry-sponsored technology transfer projects.
In response, the Director General Berik Aryn shared the Organization’s strategic programs, with a particular focus on its efforts in food security, sustainable livestock development, climate-smart agriculture, and capacity building within OIC Member States.
The two sides discussed potential areas for future collaboration, including joint capacity building programs, specialized trainings, webinars, and research initiatives. Both parties expressed a strong interest in developing a long-term partnership to support knowledge exchange and innovation in agricultural sciences and food security.
The meeting concluded with Ambassador Aryn receiving the "Saken Seyfullin Medal" in honor of the 130th anniversary of Saken Seifullin, recognizing his significant efforts to strengthen cooperation in agricultural education and research between IOFS and academic institutions.
This visit marks a significant step forward in building institutional partnerships to strengthen regional efforts in agricultural research and food systems transformation.
