Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan – 28 April 2026 – H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS), visited Astana IT University, where he held a meeting with Mr. Altair Akhmetov, Rector of the University, to discuss prospects for cooperation in the application of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in the agri-food sector.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on the growing importance of data-driven governance, smart agricultural systems, scientific research, and innovation in addressing future food security challenges across IOFS Member States.
The Director General was also briefed on the University’s ongoing work in the field of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, and advanced research, including the activities of its specialized innovation and academic platforms.
Following the meeting, H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn and Mr. Altair Akhmetov signed a Memorandum of Understanding between IOFS and Astana IT University aimed at establishing long-term cooperation in research, knowledge exchange, innovation, and capacity development in digital agricultural governance.
The Memorandum provides a framework for joint initiatives in the areas of artificial intelligence applications, scientific collaboration, training programmes, and expert engagement to support the modernization of agricultural systems and strengthen food security resilience across the OIC region.
The signing reflects IOFS’s continued efforts to build practical partnerships with leading academic and technological institutions in support of innovative and sustainable solutions for the future of agriculture.
