IOFS Director General receives Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Republic of Turkiye and the Republic Kazakhstan

Astana, Kazakhstan - 25 February 2026 - The Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, received H.E. Mr. Fathudin Ali Mohamed, Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to the Republic of Türkiye and the concurrent Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the IOFS Headquarters.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation between IOFS and the Federal Republic of Somalia in support of food security and agricultural development. Discussions touched upon priority areas of collaboration, including livestock development, animal genetic improvement, and drought management.

During the meeting, H.E. Ambassador Fathudin Ali Mohamed briefed the Director General on the challenging humanitarian situation in Somalia resulting from severe drought conditions. He noted that approximately six million people have been affected by the drought, with nearly two million facing a particularly critical situation.

Both sides reaffirmed their shared interest in advancing practical cooperation and maintaining close coordination to translate common objectives into concrete actions.

H.E. Ambassador Aryn reiterated IOFS’s commitment to supporting Somalia’s efforts to enhance its agricultural sector and address pressing food security challenges. H.E. Ambassador Fathudin Ali Mohamed expressed appreciation for the Organization’s engagement and conveyed Somalia’s readiness to further deepen collaboration in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding to continue consultations and strengthen partnership in the coming period.
