[Astana, Kazakhstan] - On February 9, 2024, His Excellency Ambassador Askar Mussinov, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), welcomed His Excellency Dr. Jaber Al-Tamimi, the Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Iraq to the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the IOFS headquarters. This meeting provided an opportunity to exchange views and review the existing relationships between both parties.
His Excellency the Chargé d'Affaires congratulated His Excellency Ambassador Mussinov on his appointment as the Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security and presented him with a written congratulatory letter from His Excellency Engineer Mohammed Karim Al-Khafaji, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Iraq, wishing him success and accomplishment in his mission to achieve the organization's objectives and assist member states in facing food security challenges.
This meeting was also an opportunity to showcase the main activities and programs of the organization for the year 2024. Ambassador Mussinov emphasized the importance of Iraq's participation in these activities due to the positive impact these programs have on agricultural development and food security in member states. On his part, the Chargé d'Affaires confirmed that his country is very keen on enhancing cooperation with the IOFS and benefiting from its expertise and training programs to improve the capacities of technicians and specialists in the OIC geography, particularly in areas such as irrigation, rationalizing water consumption in agriculture, cereals, and addressing climate challenges...
The two sides also discussed the critical humanitarian situation faced by the Palestinian people in Gaza. Dr. Al-Tamimi expressed his support for all the humanitarian initiatives and programs led by the IOFS, praising the efforts it makes in the field of humanitarian aid.
The Director General of the organization also addressed the date of the seventh General Assembly of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, scheduled to be held in Astana in August 2024, underscoring the importance of the attendance of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Iraq at this significant meeting.
