IOFS Director General Participates in Global Food Security Summit 2026

Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates | 6-7 October 2026 – Director General of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) Ambassador Berik Aryn participated in Global Food Security Summit 2026 as part of the Global Food Week at the ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi. The Director General was invited to contribute at the sideline closed-door meeting titled “Bridging the Food Divide”, which focused on advancing equity, access, and affordability in global food systems.
Hosted by the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), in partnership with ADNEC Group, Global Food Security Summit 2026 brings together government representatives, international organisations, experts, researchers and private sector stakeholders to advance dialogue and cooperation on food security, innovation and sustainable food systems.
On the sidelines of the event, Ambassador Aryn held a series of high-level bilateral meetings aimed at strengthening cooperation in support of sustainable food security. He met with Dr. Tariq Ahmed Mohammed Saeed Al Ameri, Acting Director General of ADAFSA; Eng. Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment; Eng. Mostafa Ibrahim Ali El-Sayyad, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of Egypt; Mr. Mustafa Zakieh, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Syrian Arab Republic; and Mr. Bryan Smart-Kanu, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Sierra Leone.
He also held discussions with representatives of Kazakhstan and other countries, as well as regional and international organisations, including Mr. AbdulHakim Elwaer, Assistant Director-General and Regional Representative for the Near East and North Africa of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO); Mr. Amath Pathé Sene, Managing Director of the Africa Food Systems Forum (AFSF); and Mr. Mojeeb Stanikzai, Country Coordinator of ICARDA.
The discussions provided an opportunity to exchange views on issues of mutual interest, including food security, agricultural development and opportunities for enhanced cooperation.
The participation of the IOFS in Global Food Security Summit 2026 reaffirms the Organisation’s commitment to strengthening international and regional partnerships and advancing practical cooperation towards resilient, inclusive and sustainable food systems across OIC Member States.
