H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS), received H.E. Mr. Kudaibergen Bazarbaev, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan at the IOFS Headquarters in Astana.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Director General provided a brief overview on IOFSactivities, highlighting ongoing engagements and opportunities for further collaboration.
The parties exchanged views on promising areas of cooperation, including the participation of Kyrgyz experts in IOFS events and projects, as well as the Organization’s vision for the country’s engagement in key regional initiatives, such as the Wheat Development Project in Central Asia, Regional Food Security Reserves System, Irrigation management and others.
The Director General underscored the importance of the continued expansion of the Organization’s membership and referred to relevant resolutions of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which call upon Member States to accede to IOFS with a view to strengthening collective efforts to enhance food security across the OIC region. In this context, he outlined the key benefits and opportunities provided by accepting IOFS membership.
Ambassador Bazarbaev noted that the Organization’s activities are highly relevant to regional development and aligned with national priorities and expressed his readiness to provide necessary assistance in acceleration of Kyrgyzstan’s accession to IOFS in the nearestfuture.
In conclusion, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to enhance cooperation and agreed to advance practical collaboration.
