IOFS Director General Meets with Leadership of the Food Contract Corporation and Representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan

Astana, Kazakhstan – 31 March 2026 – H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS), held a working meeting with Mr. Asylkhan Dzhuvashev, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC “National Company Food Contract Corporation”, Mr. Rustam Zhanatayev, Managing Director of the Corporation, and Ambassador Bakhyt Batyrshayev, Advisor of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss avenues for strengthening cooperation between IOFS and the Food Contract Corporation in advancing food security, enhancing strategic grain reserves, as well as intra-OIC trade as a key element in ensuring food security in OIC Member States and strengthening the agricultural sector.

Ambassador Aryn briefed the participants on IOFS’s strategic priorities under the Strategic Vision 2031, with particular emphasis on initiatives aimed at developing market stabilization mechanisms , and coordinated responses to global food price volatility, particularly in light of their projected increase He underscored the importance of leveraging Kazakhstan’s institutional capacity and experience in grain management to contribute to broader regional and international food security efforts.

The representatives of the Food Contract Corporation highlighted the company’s role in ensuring national food security, stabilizing domestic markets, and supporting agricultural producers. They expressed readiness to explore practical areas of collaboration with IOFS. In this context, the parties also exchanged views on the implementation of concrete financing mechanisms for agriculture and trade operations, including issues related to transport and logistics capabilities.

The meeting further emphasized the importance of enhanced coordination between national institutions and international organizations in responding to emerging challenges, including supply chain disruptions and the increasing impact of global market fluctuations on food security.

Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continued dialogue and the development of mutually beneficial cooperation, in line with Kazakhstan’s role as the host country of IOFS and a key partner in advancing the Organization’s mandate.
