Astana, Kazakhstan – 18 June 2025 — The Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, received H.E. Mr. Barlybay Sadykov, newly appointed Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Republic of Kenya and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office in Nairobi, at the IOFS Headquarters in Astana.
The Director General briefed Ambassador Sadykov on the ongoing activities of IOFS in Africa, particularly under the Africa Food Security Initiative (AFSI), which aims to enhance food security, strengthen national capacities, and support OIC member states in addressing agricultural challenges. It should be noted that several OIC countries in Africa are actively engaged in IOFS programmes, with growing prospects for expanding cooperation.
During the meeting, both sides discussed opportunities for closer engagement with international organizations headquartered in Nairobi. They emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts in promoting sustainable development and achieving shared objectives in food security and sustainable agricultural development.
Ambassador Sadykov, who will also be responsible for representing Kazakhstan in several other African countries, including IOFS member states, expressed readiness to actively support IOFS initiatives and strengthen Kazakhstan’s multilateral engagement in the region.
Ambassador Aryn congratulated Ambassador Sadykov on his appointment and wished him success in his new diplomatic mission.
