Rabat, Morocco - May 15, 2025 - H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), met today with H.E. Rachid Talbi Alami, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Morocco, to discuss cooperation in advancing food security across OIC Member States. H.E. Saulekul Sailaukyzy, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Morocco, also attended the meeting.
Ambassador Aryn provided an overview of IOFS flagship programs in wheat development, gene banking, water management, and halal food systems, highlighting Morocco's potential role through its agricultural expertise. He emphasized developing triangular cooperation mechanisms and South-South collaboration that would position Morocco as a key knowledge provider to other IOFS African Member States.
The IOFS Director General noted the crucial role of parliamentary bodies in creating enabling legislative environments for agricultural development and sustainable resource management.
Speaker Talbi Alami affirmed the importance of IOFS's mission in enhancing food security across the Islamic world. He highlighted Morocco's commitment to agricultural advancement through comprehensive strategies championed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, including the country's transition from traditional farming toward value-added agricultural processing.
Both sides acknowledged the importance of moving toward integrated agro-processing models that create higher value, stable employment, and greater food security. They committed to strengthening cooperation between IOFS and Morocco, with focus on leveraging parliamentary support for agricultural initiatives across OIC Member States.
