IOFS Director General Addresses the 9th ACMOI at OIC Headquarters

Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia – 11 December 2025 — His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS), led the Organization’s delegation at the 9th Annual Coordination Meeting of OIC Institutions (ACMOI), held on 10-11 December 2025 at the OIC General Secretariat in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Meeting convened senior leadership from across the OIC institutional ecosystem to review progress on mandated activities, strengthen coordination mechanisms, and shape shared priorities in preparation for the upcoming OIC Programme of Action 2026–2035.

The first day featured thematic committee sessions dedicated to technical deliberations. The IOFS delegation contributed substantively: Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, Chief Multilateral Relations Officer, participated in the Committee on Economic Issues, highlighting opportunities for enhanced collaboration in food security governance, resilience-building, and value-chain development. Concurrently, Dr. Memduh Unal, Director of the Programmes Department, represented IOFS in the Committee on Science and Technology, where he presented the Organization’s initiatives in agricultural innovation, digital transformation, climate adaptation, and technical capacity-building. IOFS reiterated its readiness to work closely with partner institutions in delivering tasks mandated by recent decisions of the Council of Foreign Ministers and the Islamic Summit.

The second day was dedicated to the solemn ceremonial session that counted with welcoming remarks by H.E. Mr. Hissein Brahim Taha, OIC Secretary General, followed by a statement delivered on his behalf by H.E. Ambassador Dr. Ahmad Kawesa Sengendo, Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs. He emphasized ACMOI’s fundamental role as the premier platform for institutional coordination within the OIC system, noting that its outcomes directly inform intergovernmental decision-making and ensure alignment with Member State priorities.

The IOFS Director General, on his part, delivered a statement on behalf of all OIC Specialized Institutions, reaffirming the collective commitment to a strengthened and coordinated OIC-wide response in different fields, including into the humanitarian tragedy in Gaza, Palestine. He stressed the Institutions’ readiness to align capacities and mobilize resources in support of the Palestinian people and the protection of their fundamental rights. Ambassador Aryn also highlighted the significant progress achieved over the past year in expanding inter-institutional cooperation, enhancing programmatic coordination, and advancing joint initiatives across key priority sectors, such as food security, humanitarian action, education, culture, human rights, science and technology, health, economic development, and the empowerment of women and youth, all guided by shared Islamic values. He reiterated the Specialized Institutions’ commitment to deeper harmonization, stronger cooperation mechanisms, and impact-driven collaboration under the leadership of the OIC Secretary General.

Delegates proceeded to review progress reports from the thematic committees, identify areas requiring enhanced coordination, and adopt the recommendations and decisions of the 9th ACMOI. The conclusions of the Meeting are expected to further reinforce institutional synergy, enhance programme coherence, and support the formulation of a robust and forward-looking OIC Programme of Action 2026–2035.
