On August 3, the Director of the Programs and Projects Department Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, participated at the International Scientific Experience Conference in Turkestan, under the theme "Improving the ecological situation through the development of greenery and problems in the development of agriculture". The Conference is dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the Turkestan region and the opening of the center of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was also attended by the deputy akim of Turkestan region Mr. Ermek Kenjehanuly, in addition to esteemed scientists from Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, India and Pakistan.
Prof. Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, highlighted the current challenges of food security in the world and emphasized the need to efficiently incorporate agricultural science and cooperation in this area, as they are the key to overcoming pressing problems in the OIC Geography. It is also important to note, the role of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of Kazakhstan holds in fostering growth and development in food security, with a team of more than 126 professors and academicians specializing in various agricultural disciplines.
In this regard, the IOFS firmly believes that the Academy will serve as a catalyst for innovation in agricultural research and development of cooperation with international partners for Kazakhstan.
Emphasizing the importance of a platform for scientific cooperation between OIC countries, the Director of Programs and Projects conveyed the message of the Leadershop of the Organization:
“ IOFS takes the initiative to create an Association of Agrarian Academies (AAA) of OIC member countries, where the Kazakhstan Academy will play a decisive role as a coordinating body. AAA will unite all the Academies or National Agricultural Research Centers of the OIC countries, and will promote cooperation to promote the exchange of experience and advanced technologies, and the implementation of joint scientific work between agricultural scientists in the OIC countries.
The recent IOFS Executive Board meeting supported this initiative and it will be presented at the upcoming IOFS General Assembly in October in Qatar.”
During the opening ceremony, the President of the Academy of Agricultural Sciences of the Republic of Kazakhstan, esteemed Academician of the Kazakhstan National University of Kazakhstan Mr.Tilektes Espolov, also highlighted the aim of the Academy in uniting the potential of the scientific field to introduce advanced domestic innovations in production through strategic support and coordination, to improve the efficiency of the Academy, and to develop the competence and technological capabilities of entrepreneurs.The main purpose of the Education Distribution Center is to deliver scientific news to the public in order to accelerate production of advanced domestic education and technologies, taking into account best practices, as well as the experience of leading world countries.
The Guests of the conference were also given the opportunity to visit Turkestan's "Green Belt" facilities and were introduced to the ongoing efforts in the area. They evaluated Turkestan's hard work on greening, exchanged mutual experiences and shared opinions for labor development.
