20 January 206, Damascus, Syria – His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), by the invitation of His Excellency dr. Nasreddine Al-Obeid, Director General of ACSAD, commenced an official visit to Syria, marking a significant step toward enhancing agricultural development and food security in the region.
On the first day of the visit, H.E. Ambassador Aryn held strategic discussions with His Excellency Dr. Amjad Badr, Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform, exploring comprehensive means and ways to support Syria's agricultural sector recovery and strengthen food security initiatives. The meeting also addressed Syria's potential membership in IOFS, reinforcing regional cooperation in addressing food security challenges.

Later during the day, the Director General of IOFS engaged with Mr. Mohammad Safwat Raslan, Director General of the Syrian Development Fund, to assess the current situation in Syria and identify opportunities for IOFS to collaborate on implementing impactful development projects in partnership with the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD) and relevant potential partners.

This visit underscores IOFS's continued commitment to supporting member countries in achieving sustainable agricultural development and enhancing regional food security through strategic partnerships and collaborative initiatives.
