IOFS Delegation Explores New Avenues for Collaboration with Côte d’Ivoire in Food Security and Agriculture
06 September 2025

An IOFS delegation led by H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General, visited Côte d’Ivoire to strengthen bilateral cooperation in food security and agriculture.

On 3 September 2025, the delegation met with H.E. Sidi T. TROURE, Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries, serving as interim Minister of Foreign Affairs. The discussions, also attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focused on enhancing collaboration in livestock development, fisheries management, and broader food security programs, with particular emphasis on sustainable practices and resilience to climate change.

On 5 September 2025, the delegation visited the National Center for Agronomic Research (CNRA), where they were received by its Director General, Prof. Abdouramane SANGARÉ, along with heads of departments and laboratories. The IOFS delegation was acquainted with the Center’s activities and research capacities, and talks highlighted opportunities for joint agronomic research. IOFS also proposed that Côte d’Ivoire consider joining the AAA initiative (Association Agricultural Academies) to benefit from wider regional scientific collaboration.

Both meetings identified concrete areas for future cooperation, including animal health and transboundary disease control, aquaculture development, capacity-building for youth and women, crop breeding and varietal improvement, integrated soil and water management, and digital agriculture tools.

This mission reaffirmed IOFS’s commitment to supporting Côte d’Ivoire in advancing its agricultural research and food security systems, while opening new opportunities for regional collaboration within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) framework.
