Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, June 27, 2023 — A delegation from the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) concluded a successful work visit to Bishkek. The delegation, consisting of Ms. Maral Imanbayeva, Adviser of the IOFS Department of Countries Operations, and Program Managers Ms. Makpal Bulatova, Ms. Amina Akhmetzhanova, and Mr. Talgat Kupeshev, engaged in three meetings aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation between the IOFS and the Kyrgyz Republic.

One of the key meetings took place with Mr. Samat Nasirdinov, Deputy Minister of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, and Ms. Tansuluu Baktybekova, Specialist of the International Cooperation Department of the Ministry. The discussions centered around Kyrgyzstan's potential accession to the IOFS. Mr. Nasirdinov confirmed that the necessary internal approval process is underway within relevant state bodies, indicating the republic’s strong interest in joining the IOFS.

Ms. Imanbayeva expressed her gratitude for the participation of Kyrgyz experts in IOFS events and emphasized the upcoming meetings, particularly the IOFS General Assembly scheduled for October in Doha. She proposed that the Assembly could provide an appropriate platform for the Minister to officially sign the Charter of the Organization.

In a separate meeting, IOFS program managers held a productive dialogue with the "AgroLead" Public Association, a leading advisory organization contributing to the agribusiness sector in the Kyrgyz Republic. Discussions revolved around potential collaborations, particularly in leveraging the IOFS platform for knowledge-sharing and capacity-building in areas such as agritechnologies, value chain development, and breeding programs.

Furthermore, the delegation met with representatives of the Association of Sheep Breeders of the Kyrgyz Republic to explore potential cooperation in supporting export opportunities to the OIC markets.

This productive visit marks a promising step towards enhancing bilateral cooperation, and both parties have agreed to intensify collaboration in the future.
