IOFS and the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub Explore Prospects for Cooperation
06 June 2023

Prof. Yerlan Alimzhanuly Baidaulet, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security held a meeting with Mr. Stefanos Fotiou, Director of UN Food Systems Coordination Hub. In a significant step towards cooperation, the delegations of the IOFS and the United Nations Food System Coordination Hub convened via zoom, where they explored prospects for uniting efforts to support and strengthen the strategic positions of Member States.

Prof. Yerlan Baidaulet, Director General of IOFS, proclaimed the significance of the new beginning, “Let's discuss a number of initial actions - ground-based, tangible, visible. Actions, where we can show the people that we are doing something for them. There are a lot of excellent ideas that go unrealised, we have to focus on acting”.

To note, the Hub’s role is to support countries in the process of developing and implementing their national food systems transformation pathway.

Similar strategic visions, and a focus on the same core pillars of food security, encourage the organisations to act together.

The participants’ collective commitment to working together sets a precedent for future collaboration, which promises innovation and resilience in the face of global challenges and promotes food security.
