IOFS and the Islamic Republic of Iran Hold High-Level Talks to Advance Strategic Food Security Partnership

Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran - Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, Assistant Director General of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS), held substantive bilateral discussions with Mr. Kazem Garibabadi, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Legal and International Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, on 22 December 2025.

The meeting, held as part of Ambassador Noziri's official visit to Iran, served to strengthen the strategic partnership between IOFS and the Islamic Republic of Iran, building upon the high-level engagements between the two sides earlier in the year.

Ambassador Noziri commenced by expressing profound gratitude to the Government of the Islamic Republic of Iran for its gracious hospitality and for successfully hosting the Expert Roundtable and Capacity Exchange on Climate-Smart Livestock Breeding for IOFS Member States. He conveyed the warm greetings and continued commitment of Ambassador Berik Aryn, IOFS Director General, reiterating the Organization's dedication to advancing the strategic partnership framework established during the Director General’s visit to Tehran in March 2025.

In their discussions, the Assistant Director General and the Deputy Minister reviewed the ongoing cooperation between Iran and IOFS. They underscored the mutual benefits of enhancing Iran's institutional engagement with the Organization, which is seen as a key step towards strengthening collective food security efforts across the Islamic world.

The dialogue emphasized IOFS’s view of Iran as a vital knowledge hub and regional partner in agricultural development. Both sides expressed a shared commitment to identifying concrete pathways for collaboration that would contribute to the sustainable development goals of the OIC region.
Deputy Minister Garibabadi expressed appreciation for the work of IOFS and welcomed the prospect of deeper institutional dialogue. He confirmed his intention to include a visit to the IOFS Secretariat in Astana during an upcoming official trip to further explore avenues for enhanced partnership.

The meeting concluded on a positive and forward-looking note, with both sides appreciating the constructive dialogue. They reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining regular consultations to ensure the continued growth of this important partnership.
