VIENNA, 23 June 2026 – H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), and Dr. Abdulhamid Al Khalifa, President of the OPEC Fund for International Development, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the margins of the OPEC Fund Development Forum 2026 held in Vienna, Austria.
The signing of the MoU marks a significant milestone in strengthening institutional cooperation between IOFS and the OPEC Fund and reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to advancing sustainable development, food security, and economic resilience across Member States. On the occasion, Director General and President of OPEC Fund, also held an exchange on means and ways to further enhance partnership and expand cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration in key sectors, including sustainable agriculture, food security initiatives, technical cooperation, capacity building, and the promotion of innovative and sustainable development solutions aimed at addressing emerging global challenges.
The partnership further underscores the importance of multilateral cooperation and strategic engagement in supporting inclusive development and enhancing resilience within food systems and agricultural sectors.
The participation of IOFS in the OPEC Fund Development Forum 2026 and the celebration of the institution’s 50th Golden Jubilee reflect the organization’s continued commitment to strengthening international partnerships and contributing actively to global efforts toward a more resilient, inclusive, and food-secure future.
