Astana, Kazakhstan -  18 June 2025 – The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), in partnership with the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, The German Cooperation Agency GIZ and the International Water Management Institute IWMI Central Asia Organize a two-day Training Program on Digital Solutions for Efficient Water Channel Management in Agriculture, taking place from 18 to 19 June 2025 in Astana.

This initiative brings together engineers, hydrologists, researchers, and policy experts to strengthen Kazakhstan’s capacity in managing agricultural water resources using smart technologies and digital tools. The training features technical sessions on real-time monitoring, IoT applications, GIS and remote sensing, predictive hydrology, and smart irrigation platforms.

“This training reflects Kazakhstan’s commitment to modernizing its irrigation infrastructure through science and technology,” said Dr. Abdelaziz HAJJAJI. “IOFS is proud to support the country’s efforts to reduce water losses, improve productivity, and advance food security.”

The program also aims to foster south-south knowledge exchange and identify opportunities for pilot smart canal systems in Kazakhstan. Participants will benefit from case studies, hands-on demonstrations, and interactive discussions tailored to local needs.
