Astana, Kazakhstan - 19 November 2025 — The Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, received H.E. Mr. Georges Abou Zeid, Ambassador of the Republic of Lebanon to the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the IOFS Headquarters.
H.E. Ambassador Aryn warmly congratulated Ambassador Abou Zeid on his recent appointment and reaffirmed IOFS’s readiness to support Lebanon’s agricultural development priorities. He emphasized the significant agricultural potential of Lebanon and highlighted the importance of leveraging IOFS instruments and expertise to address national and regional food security challenges.
The discussions also covered the upcoming IOFS mission to Lebanon, planned for early next year. Both sides expressed strong interest in deepening engagement through potential joint initiatives, particularly in areas such as climate change adaptation, development of strategic crops, and improved natural resource management.
The Director General reiterated the IOFS’s invitation for Lebanon to join the organization as a full Member State, noting that such a step would provide greater opportunities for partnership, capacity building, and participation in key regional and international food security platforms.
Looking forward, the two sides agreed on the importance of maintaining momentum through continued dialogue, technical cooperation, and participation in IOFS programmes and events.
