On the final day of the 2026 Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Group Annual Meetings in Baku, the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) and the Islamic Development Bank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in food security, sustainable agriculture, and rural development across OIC member countries.
The MoU was signed by H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of IOFS, and Dr. Rami Ahmad, Vice President Operations of IsDB.
The newly signed MoU provides a general framework for mutually beneficial cooperation between IOFS and IsDB, reflecting the shared commitment of both institutions to advancing common objectives and enhancing the effectiveness of their respective activities. The framework is intended to facilitate the implementation of joint initiatives and promote closer collaboration in support of food security, agricultural development, and sustainable livelihoods across OIC Member States.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will collaborate on the design and implementation of practical projects, technical assistance programmes, and development initiatives aimed at strengthening food security and sustainable agricultural development across Member States.
The agreement also provides for closer coordination in addressing food crises and humanitarian emergencies, enabling both organizations to share expertise, assess urgent needs, and explore mechanisms for emergency support in member countries.
The Memorandum of Understanding also provides a framework for the Parties to develop and endorse a Joint Action Plan for 2026–2028, which is expected to outline priority areas of cooperation and concrete activities aimed at advancing food security and sustainable agricultural development across OIC Member States.
