Astana, 23 October 2026 – The Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) organised a three-day Technical Study Visit to Türkiye for officials and specialists from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 19–21 October 2026. Hosted by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye, the programme combined institutional meetings, technical presentations, practical demonstrations and field visits in Ankara and Konya.
The visit was organised as a practical continuation of the Artificial Intelligence and Digital Solutions in Agricultural Governance workshop convened by IOFS in Astana in April 2026. It aimed to deepen technical cooperation between Kazakhstan and Türkiye by giving Kazakh specialists direct exposure to digital systems, technologies and institutional approaches already applied in Türkiye.
The programme opened in Ankara with a meeting led by Dr. Osman Yıldız, Director General of Agricultural Reform, who highlighted the importance of practical cooperation and knowledge exchange between the two ministries.
At the General Directorate of Information Technologies, Turkish experts presented digital infrastructure supporting agricultural governance, including farmer registration, food safety and inspection systems, agricultural data infrastructure and decision-support tools.
The delegation also explored Türkiye’s experience in GIS-based monitoring, remote sensing, AI-supported crop identification and digital livestock identification and traceability.
The delegation visited TAMTEST, where participants observed agricultural machinery testing and certification procedures and practical demonstrations, gaining insight into Türkiye’s approach to agricultural mechanisation and technical standards.
In Konya, the delegation visited the Soil, Water and Desertification Research Institute under TAGEM, where discussions focused on soil and water management, erosion, desertification, climate change and applied agricultural research. Experimental fields provided an opportunity to observe research activities in practice.
Further visits to Kalyon Enerji and TÜMOSAN provided insights into renewable-energy technologies, solar panel manufacturing, agricultural machinery and industrial production capabilities.
Throughout the programme, institutional meetings and presentations were complemented by practical demonstrations, field visits and discussions with Turkish experts, researchers and industry representatives. The Study Visit enabled participants to exchange practical experience and discuss potential areas for further technical cooperation between Kazakhstan and Türkiye in digital agriculture, agricultural technologies and agricultural governance.
The visit forms part of the IOFS’s continued efforts to promote practical peer-to-peer knowledge exchange among its Member States in support of stronger agricultural systems and food security.
