Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia - The Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn, visited the headquarters of the Union of OIC News agencies (OIC UNA) for a courtesy call with the Director General of OIC UNA, His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Abdul Rabbo Al-Yami, to discuss enhancing collaboration in media and communications to support food security efforts across OIC Member States.
Recognizing the critical role of information and public awareness in addressing food security challenges, both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening media outreach and ensuring effective dissemination of key initiatives. They agreed on closer cooperation in promoting IOFS activities, enhancing access to relevant information, and utilizing OIC UNA’s extensive network to reach a broader audience, particularly the upcoming 7th IOFS General Assembly expected to be held in early July in Astana, Republic of Kazakhstan.
Discussions also covered ways and means to fully implement the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two OIC specialized Agencies in October 2022 with an emphasis on the need for updated communication strategies, improved visibility of IOFS programs, and a more coordinated approach to media engagement.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to leveraging media as a vital tool for raising awareness, fostering dialogue, and mobilizing support for food security initiatives in the OIC geography.
