Astana, Kazakhstan — 26 November 2025 — His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS), received today His Excellency Mr. Mohamed Rachid Maaninou, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to the Republic of Kazakhstan, at the IOFS Headquarters in Astana.
During the meeting, both sides discussed ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation in food security and agricultural development, focusing on expanding collaborative initiatives and exploring new avenues for partnership that serve the interests of OIC Member States.
The Director General expressed appreciation for Morocco’s continued support and highlighted the strategic importance of the partnership, particularly in the African region. He commended Morocco’s expertise in agricultural innovation, water management, and sustainable farming practices, as well as its active participation in IOFS initiatives. He noted Morocco’s instrumental role in hosting key IOFS activities, including the Water Use Management Workshop in Rabat, upcoming Food Losses and Waste Management Roundtable in Meknes, knowledge-sharing visits for delegations from other OIC member states, and contributions to technical programmes on rice mechanization and fish post-harvest loss reduction. These efforts reflect Morocco’s commitment to South-South cooperation and knowledge transfer.
In turn, Ambassador Maaninou reaffirmed Morocco’s dedication to supporting IOFS programmes and deepening joint efforts aimed at improving food systems, capacity-building, and regional resilience. He emphasized the Kingdom’s readiness to continue expanding collaboration with IOFS across priority areas of mutual interest.
Both parties reiterated their commitment to further developing this strategic partnership and broadening cooperation in areas including capacity building, technology transfer, and regional food security initiatives.
The meeting took place in a cordial atmosphere, reaffirming the strong relations between IOFS and the Kingdom of Morocco and their shared commitment to advancing cooperation in food security.
