The African Union has launched a Digital Toolkit and Knowledge Compendium to support African leaders and institutions in advocating for agricultural transformation on the continent. The Toolkit, introduced during the 15th Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Programme (CAADP) Partnership Platform, targets various stakeholders including government officials, media, and farmer organizations. It focuses on core CAADP concepts and the results of the 2018 Biennial Review (BR) Report on the Implementation of the Malabo Declaration.
The 2018 BR report revealed that only 20 out of 47 countries were on track to meet the Malabo Declaration commitments by 2025, indicating that African Union states are falling short of CAADP/Malabo goals. The African Union is currently supporting countries in the 2nd Biennial Review process, aiming to release and report its findings in February 2020.
The Toolkit, developed in collaboration with partners, provides resources for disseminating CAADP and BR information across different platforms. It includes downloadable materials such as PowerPoint presentations and interactive online tools for exploring the 2018 BR report results. These tools allow users to access country scorecards, compare scores, and download additional resources.
The Digital Toolkit and Knowledge Compendium aim to facilitate the domestication of the Malabo Declaration into national agriculture investment plans, supporting efforts to improve food security and reduce poverty in Africa.
